Re: JJK in Myrtle Beach
Louisa County made it to the championship game losing to AAAA Conway, SC 10-0. Conway finished the tournament 6-0 outscoring it's opponents 62-10.
Conway senior pitcher James Floro was named the tournament's MVP after winning starts on Monday and Saturday. He threw a no-hitter in the opener against Powhatan (Va.) and followed it with five-hit, 64-pitch shutout against Louisa County.
Conway benefited from Louisa County's fielding problems. The Lions, a powerhouse back home in the commonwealth, committed six errors, including three to begin the bottom of the fifth inning that allowed Conway to score four runs to end the game via the mercy rule.
"They came out and pounded the ball and we couldn't field it," said Lions coach Kevin Fisher.. "The only thing I attribute it to was not coming ready to play. It's a lot of games in six days, but [Conway] did the same thing and they came out and fielded the ball.
